Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
This is the smallest and most discreet hearing aid. It is designed to fit entirely in the ear canal making it
virtually invisible. Other than cosmetic advantages, benefits may include less wind noise, more natural hearing and
telephone use without feedback.
In-the-Canal (ITC)
In-the-Canal hearing are small enough to fit almost enirely in your ear canal, occupyying about one quarter of the concha
(the indented, bowl-like, outer portion of your ear), to reduce their visibility significantly. Advantages include excellent
comfort and less wind noise than larger models.
In-the-Ear (ITE)
In-the-Ear hearing aids are one piece instruments custom designed to fit within the concha. They are the most widely
recommended hearing aid style. Advantages include the ability to use pwerful amplifiers. This size permits the use of
a telephone switch.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
Behind-the-Ear hearing aids fit snugly behind the ear, and are attached to custom earpiece molded to the shape of your outer ear.
They are designed for a wide range of hearing loss and may be connected to external sound sources such aas TVs, FM systems or infrared
listening systems. This model often is best suited for severe losses. Telephone switches are easily incorporated in this style.
